I have been a Christian for many years, and am able to testify that God is real, alive, active and oh so faithful.

I was relatively young (12) when I felt challenged by God to make a decision whether to believe in Him or not. In my youth a Christian film was always put on the TV on a Good Friday. That particular year it was the story of Samson – a man that God was with from his birth, giving him special strength. The scene in the film was of Samson being attacked by the Philistines. Samson, not having any weapons, picked up the nearest thing to him – an asses jaw and proceeded to kill a 1000 philistines with it. The challenge set before me was, if God is real and all-powerful, what am I going to do about it.

That acceptance of God in my life on that evening changed my life and direction. I was 12 and hadn’t started out on a life of crime and drug abuse at that stage and perhaps would never have done so, but I know that my desire, from that point on, to live and please God, rather than follow my own path, has saved me from my own downfalls.

Life inevitably has its ups and downs but I can say that God has walked with me every step of the way – He has been my joy, my comfort, provided that inner assurance of eternal life, salvation from my sins through Jesus, and given me an inner peace. I have found a living relationship with God – a daily walk with my creator

Time has moved on since that first evening of enlightenment but I can say now with greater affirmation – ‘ how great God is’.
