| Welcome to Wem Baptist Church! |
 When most people think of a Church they
immediately think of a beautiful village chapel or a magnificent
cathedral. Other people think of a charity fund raising organisation
or even simply a denomination full of confusing traditions.
The Bible however, describes the Church as 'Living Stones'
- men, women and young people who are precious to God (1 Peter
Ch 2:5).
Here at WBC the Church is made up
of ordinary people from all ages groups, backgrounds and experiences
with one great thing in common - a faith that is grounded
in God's word, the Bible, and our trust in the living Lord
Jesus Christ.
One of the distinctions that
we have as an independent Evangelical Free Church is an emphasis
on preaching the Bible as God's word. As such it is our responsibility
to not only preach about it or from it, but to worship and
live according to what it says, and applying what we find
in those pages to our every day lives within an ever changing
and often chaotic society full of political conflicts, religious
confusion and personal heart aches.
 Someone has said that Wem stand for
'Where, Everyone, Matters' and that is certainly something
you will find true here at Wem Baptist Church. We have an
open door to those who live around us and have a genuine heart
for the community we live in, those just starting out in life
or those nearing the end - all will find something
at WBC.
As a Church for all the family, we
try to demonstrate the
love of Christ Jesus through help, care and encouragement.
We hope you will find this site informative
and trust that you will discover the God that we love for
yourself.
