It’s often at the most traumatic or painful times in our lives that we find ourselves searching for answers and for me that was back a few years ago when my dad became ill. His battle with cancer was the trigger for me to begin to ask big questions about life and so I began with something that had always concerned me through school and that was evolution! Fascinated by science, I eagerly searched and studied for a year on the subject. I was abroad at the time and as I have now discovered, God watches over us and has a plan for us and so just at the time I began searching for answers God introduced me to a fellow Englishman working nearby who was thinking of becoming a Christian minister. My new friend was a keen scientist and knew much about creation so, as you can imagine, we spent hours talking over the subject, whilst his wife talked openly about Christianity to my wife Sarah. They invited us both to a Sunday service once a month that they had started for the few English people around and under his preaching and their teaching Sarah and I came to understand the truth that the Bible teaches and as a result we gave our lives and our hearts to the one true saviour, Jesus Christ. The rest well that’s an ongoing journey but of course we came back to the UK and have settled into life back in Shropshire. WBC is such a good place to not only find Christ but to gain a deeper relationship with him and it is a great privilege to serve as a Deacon for the Church.
Oh and as a footnote, I sincerely recommend if you are sceptical about evolution, then search it out it is truly amazing how little evidence there is for evolution and how much there is for creation. I would love to chat with you about it.....
